George Rickey

1907, South Bend/Indiana2002, Saint Paul/Minnesota

The works of the American sculptor George Rickey are characterized by a fragile harmony. He became known for his kinetic objects - mostly made of steel - which are set in motion by the slightest vibrations in space, thereby unfolding their poetic charm. Rickey only came to these works at the age of 38 after working as an engineer for the U.S. Air Corps. The natural interest in mathematics and logic is processed like no other in his works reminiscent of mobilees. George Rickey established himself internationally in the 1960s and his works are now to be found in every major collection and many public places.
