Georg Meistermann

1911, Solingen1990, Cologne

Georg Meistermann is particularly known for his more than a thousand stained glass windows, which can be found in around 250 locations throughout Europe. These partly representational, partly abstract "light pictures" also have an influence on his abstract paintings, drawings and prints. Light and colour, together with his profound religiosity, are at the centre of his work. He taught as a professor at the Städelschule in Frankfurt, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and at the Düsseldorf Art Academy.
